The standard front spring rate is about 280 to 300 lbs depending on options. The 460s are a step up and the 550s are the F41 suspension coils. The 460s are aftermarket and were never installed in a production Vette.
Im having trouble with the ride height, and I am thinking about replacing the springs. Im trying to figure out what size springs I should buy and if they make a shorter spring to lower the vehicle
The 550s will lower the car about 1 inch. Some guys with the 460s have had the ride height increase. They then cut anywhere from 1/2 to 1 full coil to lower the car. It depends on what ride height you want. I have 550s with a light front end. No air and many aluminum parts and my height is 27 inches from ground to fender lip. This is about stock height.
The 550s are a much harsher ride than stock springs.
My height is at 30 inches and I dont know what else to do.
YOWZA 30 inches. Get some 550s or start cutting the spring. Are the springs stock. If someone has been in there make sure they are in the spring pockets correctly.
Yes , the springs are stock, and yes someone has been in there, me, I replaced all the bushings and ball joints(kit from Van Steel) springs are seated correctly did it twice just to make sure. Driving me nuts. Its embarrising to take the car anywhere because it looks terrible with the front end like that.
I would get a set of springs. Either the 460s or 550s. The 460s will probably have to be cut but a 550 might give you the height you need. Also if you have not done this is do not tighten the bushings down all the way until the car is on the ground. The bushings might be holding it up some.
Not only did I keep the bushings loose, I drove the car with the bushings loose hoping that it would help settle the car, well.....you know the rest, still sits up there!!!!!!!!!
