i want to remove my smog stuff the only problem is the pipes going into the manifold are stuck pretty good. I got the hose part that is connected to the pipes off. So I was wondering if I could just cap that main tube off and what size fitting that would be. Thanks I'll check soon I'm in the garage now.
No not right now. The motor is seized up on it. I just want to remove it for now. Do u know can I just cap off the pipe that all the little tubes connect to for now it is were the rubber tubes connect to .
Its a pipe thread and I think you need a 3/4" pipe cap. Take the valve to the hardware and check the size. THe tubes may burn off if left this way for years.
...IMHO I'd leave the original pipes in THOSE manifolds and hunt up another "non-A.I.R. set" from a '74 L-48 automatic, '75 or '76 Corvette or '77-'79 L-48 automatic Corvette. They are fairly cheap & plentiful. You may end up destroying those threads and make them unuseable unless you "weld" the plugs in(which I've seen neatly done)if your threads strip out.
