temperature gauge problem
temperature gauge not working. How can I determine if the problem is with the temperature gauge of with the temperature sending unit. any help will ge appreciated

The temp sending unit makes a ground. The hotter the engine then the more ground the sending unit makes. To check your guage, disconnect the wire from the sending unit and have a friend watch your guage as you intentionally make contact with the wire to a good ground. If the guage is functioning it should immediately begin moving in the hot direction until it pegs out. This is an indication that your guage is working fine and the problem is in the sending unit. If you guage doesn't move when the wire is grounded then you guage is bad. Good luck.
