Default gAs $3/gal effect?

Forcast now is $3.00 per gallon by next year. If this happens how much effect do you think this will have on our hobbie? Car values, time driving etc.

Almost all collector vehicles are driven so little that the cost of gasoline is insignificant compared to all the other expenses required to keep them rolling. I'm more worried about 20 or 30 years down the road. The high gas prices are going to cause a shift to other fuel sources (hydrogen, electric, ???) which may make gasoline obsolete sometime in the future. It really amazes me that we can drive a car built 80 years ago and still fuel it anywhere. Eventually I don't think that will be the case.

at $3/gal, that's about $55 to fill up and will entertain me for a full day at LEAST. Last time I took the family to the movies, it cost me $50 for two hours of marginal entertainment...

Nope. Still gonna drive.

Food? Who needs food? Give me the gas.

Seriously, based on the cost of living index, gas is cheeper today than it was in the 1950's. It also consumes a lower percentage of personal income today than it did then. This is all media hype. How much did a house cost 20, 30 or 40 years ago? How about a car, a loaf of bread or anything else for that matter? What would your income have been back then? Come on, we don't complain about $20.00 a gallon bottled water, but $3.00 a gallon for gas is high? Even at $3.00 we will have the cheepest gas in the world. Ever read in the papers that the sky is falling because of the high cost of news papers? Journalists are not necessarily experts or even knowledgeable. Where's OJ when we need him?

No change for driving the vette. It may impact what I purchase as a daily driver next year. Rod

I don't like paying more at the pump, But in my first year of college a gallon of gas was 1/4 of my hourly wage. It's cheaper now compared to my income. If it gets back there again I'll still be driving my Vette.

Gas is going to cost whatever gas will cost. It still won't diminish the enjoyment of driving my Vette, my 68 GMC or riding my Harley.

1967 Harley Davidson FL
1968 GMC 1/2 ton
1999 Dodge Dakota
Oh yeah, and a 5 HP gas powered Devilbis compressor and a Weedeater lawnmower

CO rules!!

The wife, mistress, and daughter are just going to be getting less out of sugar daddy as gas prices go up!

I will still be filling her up with super, when she's empty no matter what the cost. When I go for a ride, it clears my stress. That's worth a million each time I get out, so $3.00 a gallon is nothing.

My God!! $3.00 a gallon? That means I'l spend $30 per year in gasoline!

Those oil company Ba$tards!

STW!

Platato

Now, the cost of wax! That's the thing that really chaps my hide. The stuff runs me about twice my yearly fuel cost!

Those Ba$tard bees and carnubas!

So what? I hope it does go to $3/gallon. It'll take some of those monster SUVs -- and their incompetent idiot drivers -- off the road!

Good on you but the SUVs may be history but the their incompetent idiot drivers will still be on the road driving Toyotas.
