Default C3 rear spindle nut size???

Hi guys. I sent in my 75 vette to have the rear wheel bearings replaced, and now it seems the nuts that hold the ***. in (spindle nut) is stripped. Anyone know the size and thread for it? I know the corvette shops have them, but being up here in canada it may take too long to get them

Thanks
Andy

very hard to find in a bolt store. Years ago I actually found a bolt store that had a whole bucket of them. Took my sample in and the guy behind the counter looked at it, said it was a GM axle nut and produced the correct item. Hard to find that sort of service any more.

I bought two from my local Corvette Specialty shop and found they were slightly loose on the spindle thread. Fearing there was damage to the spindle thread, I took them to a trusted auto machine shop who told me the nuts were definately not correct. He referred me to a Chevy dealer with a strong parts dept that had them for me in a few days. Don't settle for anything that does not fit correctly, even if they come from a Corvette shop..

Andy...the part number (at one time ) was 378137, Go to ANY GM dealer and ask them to "run the number"..chances are it has been changed and quite possible discontinued...MAKE SURE you tell them it`s a Chevy/Corvette part number, worth a shot though!!...........
