I am tearing down my doner 78 350 engine for my 77 corvette. I was able to positively sipher most of the casting numbers off of the block and heads which definately identify it as a 78 full size chevy. Anyway on the side of the block in large bold stamping is a 010 I thought maybe it might mean a 10 over rebuild but I am not sure. I pulled out one of the pistons and there was no marking on it indicating oversize and the rod bearing had no oversizr mark on the inside of the bearing. I have not yet put a micrometer on the piston or bore or crank but I was wondering if any of you professionals know what that mark means? Thanks again for all of your help out there.
Is it stamped or cast into the block?
010 usually refers to high nickel content block which is a good starting point for an engine but I think it is part of the part/casting number.

It is cast into the block kind of in the area where the engine mount attaches to the block
