Since some of us love it when a question is asked that for some reason makes us drop our jaw in disbelief. I say we post some of our commonly heard mythes and amusing chatter. That being said:
"I would never ride in a corvette, their made of fiberglass. They just obliterate upon impact." My reply......nice Saturn.
For those who believe this, the sheet metal on the boby of any other car doesn't help them anymore than fiberglass would.

Just like..."Corvettes don't rust". What?...I guess the frames are made of fiberglass too then.
"You must be RICH, you own a Corvette"
"You have to be CRAZY to drive that car. It's worth a ton of money" Coming from people who just dropped $40,000 on a new SUV.

I own four lol and people think im crazy.my 66 i boguht for 4k in 1988 and dumped about 20k into it and they think i spent like 100 grand.
I have a '63 split window and it seems about every other time I pull into a gas station some idiot brags to me he just had a chance to buy one for cheap ($1500 to $10,000 normally). I tell them, "Then you were a fool not to and I wouldn't brag about being a fool." 'Course they usually have the year wrong by 4 or 5 years!
When asked what year mine is I reply '83. When some one says they didn't make any in '83 I tell them sure they did that was th only year they were offered without flip up head lights. If nothing else it usually keeps people occupied for a few minutes while I let them think about it.
My favorite & most heard "legend" is the one about a '53-'55 Corvette where the aunt/grandmother/mother places an ad in the newspaper advertises a "1953 or 1955 CHEVY" from a deceased husband/son/nephew,and some guy's brother, friend of a friend, cousin, blah, blah, blah goes and looks at this "supposedly '53 CHEVY and lo & behold it's a Corvette"
I've heard this story or some variation of it more times than I care to remember. Usually it's heard at Cruise-In's, Car Shows and starts off like "Hey buddy, I had this friend of a friend who answered this ad by an old lady for a '53 Chevy and....."

And it still had the orignal v8 in it... I to have herd this. One night I herd a fellow, who looked to be stoned, tell everybody that by adding tri-power to his 350 it produced 750hp. To his stock 350. Cast iron intake. Three deuces. I stood there just dumbfounded, questions race through your mind so fast that you can't speak or move. However...when he was finished and there was about 5 or 6 people gathered, I was able to blurt out "YOUR AN IDIOT".

You've got to be kidding. None of them actually OWN those SUV's. The bank does. Anyone can make payments.........
