Default Headers & AC Compressor....

Have been looking at various headers for my 73 (w/ a 79 GM 350 replacement) from Summit Racing. I was looking at the Summit Perf headers SUM-G9003

As well as this set of Hooker Performance Headers, HOK-2456HKR

I hada few questions I was hoping you guys (and gal) could help me with.

1. When inspecting under the hood this evening to size things up, I noticed the AC Compressor (p-side) seems to bolt into the stock header. How do I mount this after installing aftermarket headers?
2. Enine mods aside (trying to decide between working on existing engine vs crate engine next year or so). Is this worth doing at this time? Seems like an inexpensive plac to star twithout modifying the engine to prepare for either option (mod vs crate).
3. (Really dumb Question) In the applications for the hooker headers it says, Will not fit angle plug heads." in the footnotes. What exactly does this mean? Is this something I need to worry a bout?
4. Is the performance gains of the hooker vs summit part significant fo me to buy at this time? Ultimately, I am looking for 300-400 hp and very streetable.
Thanks in advance
Shane

You should be able to purchase a new AC bracket with the headers, but many people don't like them because they are stamped steel plate and seem a little flimsy.
The other option is to modify your stock bracket and use a set of offsets.
You will need a die grinder to clearance the bracket for the #2 primary tube. A LOT of material needs to be removed, but if done carefully the bracket is still stronger than it needs to be.
Then you will need two stand-off's to compensate for the thickness of the old manifold.
I made mine from 5/8" steel rod, drilled the center out to 3/8" to accept the stock bolts and cut to length.

This is the link I used when installing mine and altering my A/C bracket to fit my headers. The A/C bracket I got from Hooker didn't even fit, so I just tossed it.
