What a bad start to this day… first for some unknown reason I left my keys in the “on” position for the last few days so my battery was dead. That’s okay I’ll just push it out of the garage and boost it with the DD. I need to get this thing to my mechanic to get my leaky tranny fixed, and also get to work on time. Well these things are a little heavier than I thought so to get it to go out the door and down the ramp I had to do some a fancy push backwards with the door open and jump in and shut the door before it went past the garage door opening trick. Ha! Not quite fast enough caught the Vette door on the garage doorframe, nice wrinkled up fiberglass door edge. But wait it gets better! :o
Now I have the Vette stuck half way down the ramp caught on the doorframe and no way to push it back up. So I’ll just gently push it back in an inch to close my door using my DD and a tire between both back bumpers, yeah I know dumb! So now I have a wrinkled door and a cracked back bumper. Common sense slowly starts to creep into my panicking brain and I go and get my battery charger and start the car that way, only took 5 minutes and I was miserably on my way to get my front seals fixed on my tranny.
I guess if there is a moral to this story it’s that the 5 minutes of destruction I caused could have been avoided just by not being in such a hurry and think things through before you do something stupid and expensive, today’s go go world seems to put us in such precarious positions.
Do not feel so bad. I went into work on Sunday and we have roll up doors with punch access.
Vette nose is very long and rubber door has steel plate on bottom.
Almost tore nose off.
Now have bloody nose on vette. :o
