I read a post a while back of a guy who posted his welds ,so i thought id post some of mine to see what people think these are vertical welds on a pressure vessel using half inch plate the other picture is the whole front end of the tank 140 ram to lift the tank (TIP HINGES ON THE BACK) this tank is mounted on a trailer and pulled by a similar tank mounted on the truck this is my favorite project and take alot of pride in what i do theres nothing like the feeling you get after seing this thing come back from piant all chromed and pimped out.
Pretty caps!! and the welds on the gussets and plates are great too Did you get to do the pipe?? I love to do jobs like that. Were these all done in place or on a table? And the pipe looks Excellent. Almost like it was done by a mechine. How old are you???? I remember when I was a young and before bifocals, now trifocals. Now using cheaters every day I'm 58 now. and now I leave all the pretty work to the steady hands. I specialize in rust repair No more high pressure boiler tubes for me.
Thanks everyone! what does walking the cup mean? i use i weave patern in a circle so im always grabbing the fresh meterial ahead of me everyone else i know uses the zig zag weave which i dont like becuase as your laying it down it just looks like your washing over the weld not grabbing whats ahead of you i run mine fairly hot on vertical up about 20.8 volts and 4 1/8 amps. The plumb comming off the front is non code and was welded in the horizontal (all butt welds) anything past the valves of the vessel doesnt half to be inspected just has to seal. im 29 years old ive built over four hundered of these tanks starting when i was 18 .The front end is my specialty and the spot that has to be the strongest.thanks muchly everyone oh ya i used .35 wire and a miller industrial welder.
