Trany Temp Guages
I have been looking around for a nice transmission temperature gauge. All the ones that I have seen have a capillary tube running from the trany to the gauge. Don't they make these things in an electronic version like water temp or oil pressure gauges. I would appreciate any recommendations and/or pics that you have of your setup.

Doug I ran one for years but it was the capillary tube type. I can weld a fitting in the side of the oil pan for you.
I found my 400 and 700 ran about 175 degrees and then I turned on the oil cooler fan. I had a seperate rad and 10 inch fan just for the transmission.
Removing the pan and welding a proper fitting in the side is not a problem.
How about Orangeville this Wednesday night???

You can buy a housing for the temp guage for about $10. Just drill a 1/2 inch hole and it bolt it on. Only bad thing is you have to drop the pan. Then you can use an electric sending unit type.

I have an Stewart-Warner trans temp gauge that I installed in my Suburban. It is electric, ie, sender in the pan with just a wire up to the gauge.
Gauge # is 82707 & sender # is 280EE. I did this about 13 yrs ago but maybe the parts are still available.
