Default Hood air door question

I noticed that my 1974 has 2 wires leading to a door in the hood. My question is when is this door supposed to open and where is the relay or switch which opens it located.

Thanks for the help

Tom

There is a switch under the gas pedal, floor it and it is supposed to open the door. Mine did not work in my 73 so I took the door and cylinoid out so it gets fresh air all the time.

I have heard you can get in your car, turn the key in the ignition, push the accelerator to the floor and take a flashlight and shine it into the hood opening. Best to do in a dark garage.

With the ignition on motor not runing push the gas pedal to the floor and you will hear it open. If it dose not open reach under the dash by the gas pedal and move the round switch lever and listen for it to open it is a loud click. If it works by hand put a short rubber hose over the switch lever to give it more travel and it may fix it

Pop the hood, disconect the accelerator cable from the carb. [opitinal]
turn ign. switch on & from engine compartment pull accelerator
cable to activate. if it doesn't work check connector where it plugs
in to harness. the selonid operated shaft might be corroded & needs
to be cleaned up. that was the case with mine.

the jack for the harness he's talking about is in the wiring loom between the frt headlights,,,it plugs in there then runs up the drivers side under the hood,,that what those holes are for ,,clips pop in there to hold the wiring going up to the seloniod,,,, the gas pedal switch does 2 things.kick the tranny and open the flapper
