Default T-Tops

I have a 1969 350,300hp. I was wondering if anybody knows if there is a way to tell if the t-tops are origanal. I know the 2 prevous owners and they say the tops are origanal. The tops are stainless steel, not body color and not glass, but stainless steel. they say they are rare, the build sheet just says T-tops. Anyone know?

Don't think they are original for your car, may have been swaped off of one of those steel body vettes.

Perhaps you have the ultra rare steel bodied Vette!!!!!! Everyone talks about the steel bodied vette but they are more elusive than bigfoot or Nessie!!

No its not steel, its fiberglass, as far as I can tell. The story I got was that there were only a hand full with the tops and as they came off the line the tops got pulled and replaced with body color ones, mine may of made it out. Also it may have had something to do with John DeLorean and his fetish with stainless steel when he was part of Chevy.

There was a set for auction on E-bay the other day the owner said were made from stainless steel. I had never heard of any and I would never believe that they were a factory option or factory supplied without the whole world knowing about it.

They may have been some aftermarket manufactured project and would still hold a great novelty to most people. But I don't believe they are factory GM. jim

Wow...stainless T Tops.

I have never seen or heard of them before.

Thanks for posting.

As for the originality....well I doubt they were a factory part.....there is no factory option for them or dealer option........so were an aftermarket thing.

The look just like the rest of the interior trim, same finish, black, they look original, even though everyone seems to think they are not.
