Max backspacing?
What's the max backspacing for a C3 without having to use spacers or adapters? I've seen Ecklers and Mid America offering rims with 4 - 4.5 inch backspacing, but but I wasn't sure if that was too much or what.

On my 69 I took very careful measurements and decided 5" was the max but would require moving the parking brake bracket. I ordered my new rims with 4 3/4" for a little leeway.. Front you could stick with 4" (stock) or do 4 1/2"
Remember stock with 8" wheels used 4" backspacing so changes on that may change the way the wheel fits in the fender.
