Default Rear End Height

Can anyone tell me the proper height that the rear should be?

I just replaced my T/A's and installed a new leaf spring and all the hardware while I was at it............

Measuring from the ground to the bottom lip of the wheel well I get
30 & 3/8 inch's ....... It looks a little high (maybe my imagination)

All the photos I look at some look the same some look lower

Thanks Butch

Front
30.5" back from the center of the wheel the frame should be 8.25"
Back
24" forward of rear wheel center frame should be 8.51 shipped 8.15 curb

The height of the top to bottom of stut rods in vertical hieght is 2.78 shipped and 2.29 curb. Thats center to center and wouldn't matter which tires were mounted.

Mostly its a side to side.
Bounce the car several times to settle.

This is from the 68 assembly manual and is probably using 70 series tires.

+-/ .5" overall
+-/ .25" side to side.

Techno,

the messurement's you gave me were close, front was good
rear was about a half inch to high.

I went to a local vetts in the park show today and found out I'm
about two inch's high at the wheel well.

Do you think the longer bolt kit for the leaf spring will bring it lower or
is the new leaf spring just the wrong arch and needs to be replaced...
I got this spring from Volvette.

Thanks Butch

Default Good place for bolts!!

I replaced my 9 leaf a while ago and it wound up sitting about 2 inches too high in the rear.

Your local Caterpillar (CAT) dealer can get you 9/16 x 8 grade 8 bolts.
They cost a whopping $3.84 each.
I asked and 8" is the longest they can get in 9/16".

Sorry I've expended my knowledge on this subject

I would leave it and see if it settles at all. Then look into lowering it.

The wheel well won't tell you much unless the tires are the same, and those cars are correct!
