How do you get the rusty door ajar switch plate out
I'm installing the new rear wiring harness and to connect the wires to the switch at the rear door jam I need to get the switch out. Of course it is rusted to the plate behind the fiberglass.
I drilled out the rivits so the plate and switch are inside the opening, but the plate still won't come out.
Anyone have ideas short of cutting the fiberglass opening larger?
Thanks

Take off the rear wheel and remove the plate covering the #3 body mount. You need to make the round hole in back larger more like an oval to get the plate out. If the switch is attached it will need to be bigger.
To reinstall use a 36" piece of clothes line rope with a knot in the middle. run the rope thru the plate then the cut hole and out thru the fiberglass. This way you can hold the plate tight against the back while installing the pop rivets. When finished pull the rope back out, install wires then the switch.

Thanks Lyle, that is what I was looking for. So I do have to make the hole bigger to get the plate out.
My hands aren't huge but that inspection plate hole is not quiet big enough to get into. How did you enlarge the hole from inside the inspection opening?
