I just got done doing mine. I used a high build 2k primer and block sanded it with guide coat (a lot). I finished up sanding with 400. Was told with a solid color that will be good enough. biggest consern with metalics is them sinking into the sanding scatches so 600 is recomended. Was also told to do the magarity of blocking with 180 because it cuts flatter better than finer paper. It is very rewarding when you do a paint job yourself and comes out very good. I have a good site for paint and body work but it's on the work computer. If you do a search for "autobody paint store" and then go to the forums.

You should block with either 320 or 400 to cut down the peel of the primer and any high spots. THen go over with 500 prior to paint. The Scotch Brite pads are not good for sanding primer. You need to start with the lower grit to cut the primer smooth. Sanding with a higher grit does not cut the peel or high spots from the primer or body

I final sanded mine with 500 then used dupont chroma base code 10 white. There are 3 variants in the formula. I tried to pick the brightest one. I then used 7900 clear. You cant look at it in the sunlight
