Great questions. I have pulled about 150lbs out of my 78 by installing seats from an 80, removing many of the heavy brackets behind the bumpers and a lot of misc small items like removing cruise controls, Air Con... I will be installing Alum heads, Water pump and converting to a T5 trany this winter but no idea how much weight they save.

The closest I can come up with as far as car weight is
1. 1977-3540 lbs
2. 1979-3655
I would guess that the 78 is right in there pretty close.

I know this is a dumb question but did you check the sticker on your drivers side door jam?

I got this info out of an old Road And Track compilation book. Never a corvettes friend.

Weighed my '76 last year. 3450# with me in it. Aluminum heads, intake, wheels, and headers. Full tank of gas. So I would say <3300# curb.

The Corvette Black Book lists the curb weights as:
1977 - 3541#
1978 - 3572#
1979 - 3503#
