well, the valve on my left front brake caliper is really not cooperating...It's starting to get rounded off...I even tried vise-grips to no avail. Any tips on getting out the valve to that it can be replaced? Thanks very much
Hey, just down the road from you here in round rock.
your methods sound good. you are commited to vice grips now. do you have a torch? if so, you could try to warm up the caliper and hope it expands enought to wiggle the bleeder out. i snapped off one out of eight. i wish i had taken my time and let it soak in some liquid wrench or something of the sort.
i just finished a full brake job so i know how you feel.
This sounds stupid but try tightening it. sometimes a fastener will tighten and not loosen. If it does then you can loosen it.
Heat it up.
I once drove my car to a garage just so they could remove the hard line. I broke it so vice gripped it closed and let them remove it.
Apparently this isn't totally since the guy was totally dead pan when I told him about the vice grips.
Sometimes this is easier, take the caliper to a garage and let them wreak havoc on it. Specially if it ain't totaly broke yet.
