Default What is this

Not sure what this is or what it does. It doesn't seem to be part
of emergency brake cables, can't figure out what it does. Red arrows point to cables I'm talking about.

do these connect seat belt bolts to the cross member (something more secure than a glass pan)? Not sure. I have those too.

I think that it is right, but that is just a bent tab that holds it to the crossmember. doesn't seem much better to me. If you hit hard enough to break the pan, the tab would probably let go of that cable too.

Yeah its pretty cheesy, but I couldnt figure what else it would be for. I would imagine that the pans and brackets are actually pretty strong. Maybe the idea, was in the event of a bad wreck, if the bolt brackets got pulled through the pan, that the cable would actually just keep the buckles from coming completely out. The cable would theoretically snag on the drive shaft. Maybe the tab isnt really intented to hold the cable to the crossmember for strength at all. Just to hold it there until needed. Its sure isnt 95 crash standard technology.

I think they prevent the cable from hanging down and snagging something sticking up in the road if the cable happens to get that loosend up.

If your in a bad accident, it reinforces the seat belts from being ripped out of the car. Just an extra safety measure.
