Building headers

Sounds like if you founds somewhere at all to find something like that you're doing good. What are you up to now? Can't find any headers that have huge primaries and fit a C3 with and LS1????? How's the car been running? What are you going with for the rest of the exhaust system?

The plan is to run 2 1/2" pipe to Flowtec's or existing mufflers with QTP cut-outs set up by a MSD switch. We'll see how that works.
The vette is running fine, no issues at all since start up. Probably the best swap out there in my opinion.

Ed has LOTS of good info, but he's not cheap. Speedway usually has good prices.
I built a set of side exit headers a few years ago, swore I'd never do it again. It harder that I thought! Of course getting 4 36" long 1 3/4" pipes intothat small of an area was part of the problem, looks like a basket of snakes...

After looking at a set of Linkenfelter headers on a GTO, I'm hoping it looks that easy. I'm only going to tack weld them, someone with experience will Tig them. I know my limitations.

Not to tell you your business but if I was building my own headers I would contact headers by ed or someone else who knows the stuff.
Tell them what you have and they'll tell you what headers to build. Just choosing a pipe diameter and length isn't going to get you all that you can be
If your going to add or modify just build them for the final result. If just guessing rolling your own will probably be harder more expensive and possibly worse than store bought.
The headers by ed info seems to say going too large is a dead end. There is a limit since diameter of a circle adds enormously to area of a circle. A 1/4" step is much more at 2" than it is at 1.5".
For the $30? bucks it seems a worthwhile service.

Here is an ad from the latest issue of Popular Hot Rodding Oct.'05 about oval pipe kits. Might look into that for added ground clearance. They say they have all you will need. Just trying to help. Glenn
