On my '72 the top screws that hold the headlight bezel onto the headlight assembly ( aluminum) are broken off . Any ideas on how to get those buggers out? Doesn't appear thatan easy out can grab onto anything.
I've marked my calender, is there an address where Lars will hold court?
I will really try to get the car running by then, I'm in the process of yanking out the engine for a little work, but should have in back in and started by then.
Depending on how much of the screw is left, cutting a slot would be my first choice. When disassembling/rebuilding my headlights, I had around 10 screws that broke off in the aluminum headlight piece (mostly the ones holding the plastic headlight adjusters and the springs). These had to be drilled out and helicoil'ed. Pretty tedious work.
I had a welder TIG weld a piece of welding rod onto the broken scew to use as a "handle". Then he heated the housing a bit and backed the scew out by gripping the "handle". He did such a good job that the threads in the hole remained intact and I was able to simply replace the screw (with anti-seize on the threads this time).
