Fiberglass Sidepipe Covers?
I've been looking at getting a set of these as I cant find a metal set for under $1000. I remember reading a thread on painting them but now I cant find it. Id like to see some pictures of some painted to look metal. In my head it would look cheesy but who knows? Thanks for any pics and info. Justin

Nice. I like that idea a lot. Now the final question is are you running the factory sidepipe exhaust under it? Are the covers insulated if so? I have full lenth headers so I was going to run the exhaust to where it would just exit at the opening of the covers but not run down the side of the car if that makes sense. Im wondering if the paint is going to bubble with the heat.

2) No, Covers are not insulated....the covers do not touch the sidepipes! If they do, it will definitely bubble the paint near the contact.
3) Not sure I understand your plan?.....but you cannot direct hot exhaust on or along the covers!
My future plans would replace the stock sidepipes and exhaust manifolds with headers transitioning to a 3" sidepipe with spiral baffle inserts....I think!

I know what your doing.
His tailpipe is exiting under the door, where the covers normal exit is.
If it isn't touching the glass then it won't melt it.
If you wanted it silver you can paint is silver with a clear coat. It isn't going to look chrome. I think there is chrome paint but only seen it in rattle cans.
You could also have the covers chrome plated. You can plate anything non conductive by placing a conductive layer on it. I don't know how durable this is though.

I guess they look okay, but I could never settle for that. Get the real thing!

Man I love that car...even more since I was under the hood on Tech Day.... I'm trying to sell the wife on the idea of letting me build one...
All I need to start is a frame and body.....
