Hello, I just got a 74 and the drivers dide hinge needs new bushins. I went to the forum store and ordered them. The question is they offered two (2) types Thick and Thin. What are they talking about and which do I need. I bought 2 of each just in case.
Just a guess, but the "thin" would be if the hole that the bushing sits in is not worn out in any way. If it is, I assume you'd drill it out to fit the "thick" bushing. Sounds like a fix instead of having to buy a whole new hinge. Like I said, just a guess.
Bought some at the local "Auto Zone Out" they had no idea which one was right, so they sold me a bag full. Only one of those worked. So I dug out my left over parts from restoring a '61 Ford Ranchero, these fit perfectly. You just never know!
the thick ones are for when the door busshing has been worn out for a long time and the hole is "egged". usually if you catch it in time the thin ones work fine. Sometimes you can clean up the hole with a round file
I got mine at the local chevy dealer, the pins were separate from the bushings. the pins were to long so I cut them and beveled the edges on a grinder, much like the originals, the small bushings fit right in and the larger i took back and got my $$$ back.
