I got a set of 8 point Craftsman sockets on EBay. Pretty cheep too. I presume that you could order a single socket from Sears. Try their web page.

The local Sears store said that they couldn't get the 8 pt. sockets anymore but they are still listed on their website so I bet they are still available. Is the 5/8 the correct size?

Thanks again.

I believe a 12 point socket will work. Try one till you find the right one.

I couldn't find a socket to fit mine, so I wound up using a big crescent wrench.

Thats what I was wondering. Why not use an open end or even a pipe wrench? They are pipe plugs aren't they?

A 3/4" 12 pt. socket fits and works nicely (this is what I use)....if the plug is especially tight, use an 18" breaker bar and an extension to give yourself some room; it should come off without slipping or rounding off.

I believe the size is 9/16. Do yourself a favor and get all of the 8 point sockets. You will use most of them sooner or later.

I just use an open end wrench on all of my square head plugs.
