Well I must say this project turned out much bigger than I initially anticipated.
I was intalling new carpet so I decided to go ahead and put in some Dynamat.
I ended up putting it EVERYWHERE in the vette that I could get to, and about 15 solid hours of installing I finished.
There's other insulation covering some areas, but there's Dynamat under all of it
While I was at it, I decided to install my rear 6x9's in the two larger storage compartment doors in the back
I had to put in a spacer so the cone would clear the battery
You're doing the sound insulation exactly like I did mine--It's quiet and solid as a Lexus now. Put that felt insulation everywhere--that's what deadens the interior sounds.

Wow, looking good. That is a lot of time to spend at once working on the vette. But I have been known to do similiar but not quite as long doing vette projects. Just seems like time slips away when you are having fun.
Just curious if you used any type of sound deadening material in the doors. I know that dynomax makes some spray in stuff that supposed to be pretty good, but I am just squeemish about spraying stuff into/onto the door.

I havent done the doors yet... I have some Dynamat left over so I'll probably use that and maybe the spray...I'd just be careful with it
Ok. MAYBE I went a little overboard... after talking to a forum member late last night who recommended I throw down some Reflectix for heat in the front, so after a trip to Lowe's, 15 bucks and 15 minutes...
and here's the back completed with the carpet and speakers installed
the first package I got at Fry's electronics, the other at a car audio store

I drove from San Angelo, TX to Austin yesterday evening which is about a 3.5 hour drive. The difference is remarkable! I kept looking down at my spedometer thinking I was only going about 40, but nope 70. Once I was going 80 in 3rd and didn't notice for quite a while. The quality of the music is much better now also and I didnt have to turn it way up on the highway. I also drove barefoot so I could feel any heat coming through, NOTHING. I definitely recommend the Reflectix: cheap, quick install, effective. The only problem is now I'll probably be getting speeding tickets not realizing how fast I'm going! I had to get longer seat bolts because I have so many layers of insulation .
