Default Cheap L88 hood

Found this hood on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-1...71634075QQrdZ1

It weighs 8 pounds but can not use the latches and hinges. It must use hood pins. Here are some pics they sent me.

Does anyone know whats on the underside of the hood? The price looks great at $143, but the dang shipping kills! $20 for crate charges and $93 for shipping! I wonder if they would ship it with greyhound
Think this hood wil be strong enough for high speeds, or do you think it will fold up on itself?

Too bad! I bought the same hood from Lotahp and chiseled out all of the latch stuff and support stuff. I now run it with pins and have been to 130 a few times and it seems okeedokee.

are you using the normal hood pins, or the pins that are locks. I would hate to have to drive around with 4 pins holding my hood on, where anyone in the world can just pop them off and yank the hood off.

That reinforcing bead is probably PVC pipe sections that were glassed over. We used to do the same thing for UPS truck hoods when I was doing glass layup for OEMS.

Looks like a pretty nice hood for racing or general lightweight use. You wouldn't want to drop it...

I wieght my original hood and it is 30 pounds. This seems like a good place to lose a few pounds and get a cheap good looking hood at the same time I just wish shipping wasnt so much.

That's how I have it. My car is always parked in the garage, at a show (lot's of people around) or at the strip (within eye sight), so it's never been a worry. I also have no windows, so You can understand why I don't park it in mall parking lots.

If you are going to leave your car unattended, then i wouldn't suggest it. Not in todays day in age.

I was thinking about using something like these, except hopefully not as ricer, and better quality. Do you know of any?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

lol, its funny. I used to use my 69 mustang as a daily driver for 3 years and there was no lock for the hood. Just a latch in the grill. :o The kids at school did screw around with me though, like pulling the coil wire

I had considered those at first, but someone told me that if you have a fire, and can't get them all unlocked quick enough... you can imagine. but I do actually like the looks of them.

check out JC whitney, they have the legendary fiberglass made hoods, same as ZIP if I'm not mistaken....and they're cheap (I have one), and fits fine.

how heavy are the legendary hoods? I kind of like the idea of having a lift off hood. Makes working on stuff in the nose much easier.
