The previous owner of my car had painted pinstriping on the car. The stripes aren't bad for now, but they had the words "It's Ruff!" painted on the back as well.
I would like to remove this if possible. Does anyone have a good suggestion for removal?
About 4 ounces of C-4 should do it!.....J/K
Try wet-sanding with 1500 grit wet with a soft sanding block till almost all of it is off. Then rubbing compound till the rest is off. Then polishing compound. Be careful not to sand or polish thru the paint.
Depending on your level of expertise there are a few ways to do this.
1) enamel reducer. Try a small area in a hidden spot first. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!
If not, I agree with wet sanding. Use 2" masking tape and put it around the letters about an 1/8" away before you sand. This will keep the paper sanding on the letters and not the paint around it and will lessen the chance of going through the topcoat of paint. You may want to only sand until the letters are transparent then compound the rest off. The condition of the paint will dictate how you do this. It is kind of a trial and error thing. Be careful not to burn through the paint
I know this is going to sound a little funny..........
easy off oven cleaner, the oven cleaner will remove the lettering or pin stripping and not touch the finish of your paint. You may see a color difference under the lettering caused by paint fading,Buffing with a little compound and than waxing will help even this out.
If the car is clear coated I would either skip the sanding or be very carefull doing it. An easy test is whether your wax applicator is paint color or not.
The easy off worked. I spread it with a sponge and used the corner of my Blockbuster card to gently scrape the lettering off. A second wipe down with Easy Off afterward and we're in business. There's a small amount of residual color, but I am sure it will be gone after tomorrow's wash...

What a great tip! I'm going out right now to try and remove my old, ratty stick on stripes.
