I have a red 77 and was washign my windsheild when i noticed that the trim around my window looks funny being black. Was it even black from the factory or did someone paint them black? If the are painted how can i get them chrome again?

I just had the trim for my 68 polished and some dents fixed (off the car). It cost $130 and it looks great. The early trim is stainless steel and I think the blackout stuff is also stainless. Se if there is someone in your area that could polish them.

The windshield trim was black in 1977. (I can't remember what year in the 70's they started this, but 77 was definitely black.)The paint didn't adhere to it very well and you will see many of them where it looks like it is coming off. Some will just polish them until it all comes off or have the trim repainted.

I may be wrong, but I believe the trim is just anodized aluminum. Once the anodizing loses its luster it is difficult to get the trim to shine... without a whole lot of polishing.
