Ok, Just went out to the car and checked for you. This will make it even more of a mystery for you. Car number 17106. Very late car built in July 70.
Headlights off= side marker lights flash with turn signals.
Headlights on= side maker lights flash out of sequence with turn signals.
Headlights off= side marker lights flash with turn signals.
Headlights on= side maker lights flash out of sequence with turn signals.

Well I have traced the 70 schematic (see my other post) so I don't know how they are doing it. In my friends 72 manual it is very obvious as they are using the earths to make it flash. In our year it seems that the lights are not connected the same IN SOME CARS? Wierd. My vin is 16531 probably the same month even?
