1972 LT-1 block casting date code "M"
Does anyone out there know the reason for a "M" block casting date code on some 1972 Corvette engine's? I have owned this '72 LT-1 since 1991 and no one has been able to answer this for me. Any information would be appreciated. I am aware of five other's.

When their was a casting change they would run a sample of the new design for testing and if they were ok the rest of the sample that was not cut up in the test were used in production. They may have been cast in a different foundry also. The M was used to keep track of the special blocks.
