GunMetal Gray
Does anyone have any pictures of a C3 painted GunMetal Gray or the equivalent? I have a 79' that I want to paint and would like to see what it might look like before hand. Also do any computer programs exist that will allow you to change paint colors of your Vette while viewing it on your pc? Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Steel Cities Gray
In 1971 and 1972 Chevrolet offered a color that is very much what you are describing, Steel Cities Gray. I think it is a great color on the C3 Corvettes. You will recognize it when you see it, but less than 4000 were painted this color over the two years…
I liked it so much that in 1971 I painted my '63 roadster that color and it still looks terrific more than 30 years later…

The Buick I just took off the road was Gunmetal Metallic.
I love the color - but my vette will be going black.
One of the guys at TFB-NE just had his vette painted
"Dark Quartz" ... which is very close. You could contact him for details on the mix.

Hey NHvette. I appreciated the links to the pics. I do like the attitude the dark gray color gives the car. I love black too. My Vette is currently black. But has original paint that needs some attention. First impulse is to stay with black. But...... who knows. I have til next summer to figure it out. Thanks again.

Anyway, mine is 1990 Chrysler Dark Quartz (ppg 9144 i think). I've got some pictures in the gallary section (look for user name: greenice) and I've got more pictures than most people would like to see on the home PC
With the black interior it looks very stealth like. Was at a car show this past week end and a bunch of people loved the color.

I have seen a 79 painted the dark metalic used on the 78 silver anniversary color code it's the bottom color---- man it was sharp Im still thinking on using that color for a whole color on a 80
