Default Wheels and Tires

I am putting 17x8.5 wheels on front and 18x9.5 on the back of my 1968. Has anyone run this combination and if so what size tires did you use?

Just looking quickly, I turn up a pretty good match with Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3. Sizes 255/45-17 (26" dia.) and 285/35-18 (25.9") or 275/40-18 (26.8") for a bit of a raked look.

I'm running 17x8 255/40/17 front and 18x9 rear 285/35/18.

The front is about 25.5" rear is about 26 - I would like a little more tire height just for looks but it looks good how it is too (on a 69)

Jeff, I just checked out your website... great job documenting everything when doing your engine swap.

I am using 4" backspacing on the front and 4.875" on the rear. My rear tires are flush with the outer lip of the fender. As long as you use 18's on the rear you can do 5.25". This will tuck them under a little better.

I also have this combo. The rear tires are about 27", so they fill up the wheel well and keep the speedo happy. This setup was also used on the C5, so you should have a good selection of tires to choose from.
