Default Rear Bumper re-chrome

Just bought a '72 TTop, and we have a good restoration shop in our area. They are suggesting import replacement rear bumpers over re-chroming the originals (and of course he advocates keeping the stockies in a box for future). I'd like to hear any thoghts, but it seems to be a price/quality issue? Seems like you can get import new ones for quite a bit less than a high quality re-chrome. For those who have had GREAT re-chrome experience at a "reasonable" cost, would love to have that reference.

I don't think you would be happy with reproductions. They are wavy and usually don't fit too good. Much better to go re chrome. I went through two pairs of aftermarket thinking I just got some turds. Bit the bullet and just paid for re chrome. Several people on ebay sell them already to go, you just send them your old cores.

If you're doing a complete restoration then you're going to sink a ton of $$ on that car. The price difference between repro's and show qaulity chrome is negligable compared to the over $$ you're going to spend on the resto.

Rechrome the originals, you know they fit.
