I know, I know-- no one can tell what a car is "worth" without seing it or laying your hands on it but here goes. 72 coupe, 350, 4 sp and that's it- no ac/power steering, windows etc. Matching numbers, perfect interior and the key is 43,000 orginal miles. Frame- all else like a new car. All there except has Cregar mags and different valve covers. His asking price $15,900.00. Thoughts?? Thanks, Paul
My .02, is that it depends on if you have to sink any money into it. It should be pretty much turnkey. In other words, it shouldn't need calipers, exhaust, mufflers, suspension etc. Drop $13K on the table and see what happens. Not gunna be much fun without power steering - at least to me.
sounds like the car is in a very good condition - as you mentioned interior is perfect and all else like new on car.
its a chrome bumper and so commands more than the later c3's...as we all know.
40K original miles? well if that checks out..thats pretty good. any documentation? (not that my vette had any documentation )
well I think the seller is quite fair with his/her asking price of $15900.
chrome bumper, matching numbers 350 with 4speed, 43K original miles, perfect interior and good looking car all round.
just cause it doesn't have power steering I don't think its fair to say its worth 4K less.
if you want a power steering car then look for one. otherwise I think the price is very fair if everything checks out...having said that there is no harm in offerring less if your interested.
His price is probably a bit high, but not way out of line-depends on the condition. Power steering can be added for maybe as cheap as $200 with used parts or $1500 with the Corvette Steering conversion. You can probably buy it for around $13k cash.
If it is truly all original and looks new because 40k miles is accurate and car was very well cared for... then I think it is worth $16k because that kind of car is hard to find and only getting harder to find. But (paradoxically) if the interior looks new because it is new, or was replaced a few years back, and a lot of the wear parts have been replaced, then it falls into the driver category and the number is closer to $12 - 14. And that is value as I see it, not necessarily the market.
Thanks for the help. Seems like about the range I was thinking. 13- 15,000.00 and it all matters on how fast the seller wants the cash and to sell it anyhow. Paul

You said matching numbers??? The engine, trans, frame and carb are all original and legit. Plunk down the 13K on the table as a previous post suggested. It sounds nice, but buyer beware.
if the car is as nice as you say 15 is a great price for a matching #'s,there is a lot of crap out there it is very hard to find nice ones for under 20k in this car market
