Hey all,
Just wanted to pass along a compliment that I received yesterday. . .
I drove the Vette to work yesterday because it was a particularly nice day. I was stuck in a traffic jam due to a wreck.
A lady next to me yelled over to me asking what year my vette was. I told her and then her husband (?) who was driving yelled "It's Awesome".
Now, I get compliments like that occasionally when I drive it as I'm sure most of you do, however when I noticed what they were driving. . .
2005 BMW 6 series convertible. WHOA!! And they think my car is awesome.
Check the sticker on one of those babies. Thinking back, I should've asked them if they wanted to trade

Maybe they also appreciate the work it takes to keep yours on the road, not to mention up to performance. Many can't service their own vehicles and continue to buy new cause they have to. While some buy new cause they can !!!!!
I almost always hear the 7 - 10 years old in my neighborhood yell out "cool car" or something like that when I drive by. Doesn't quite feed the ego like a hot 22 year-old saying it, but hey, at my age, I'll take any compliment I can get! Besides, I have a great wife who has never complained about how much money I've spent on the car.
My wife and I pulled into a local ice cream shop in the 69...two families came over to the car and started asking questions(kids too)..complimenting the Vette...wish we had one, great car etc..we were there 45 minutes answering questions, hood open, and one guy even asked his wife if he got one would she ride with him..she said "absolutely". The lore goes on......
I get that once in a while. What really gets me is when someone driving a late model car of some kinds say, "I always wanted one of those." I don't say it out loud but my reaction is "then go buy one." Lets face it, you can pick up a late 70's early 80's Corvette in decent shape for well under $10k. If you can afford a new Honda you can certainly afford an old Corvette. If you need a family friendly car, buy a 5 year old Honda and a '78 Corvette.
(Personally, I'd never buy a Honda, lets not get carried away)

I don't get as many as I thought I would but my wife says (when she's with me) that as we drive by, every guy immediately turns his head to stare at us. You cannot avoid hearing the side exhaust.
I love those compliments they yell out, makes it all worth while. It's as good as any throphy you could win.
My favorite was driving through a campground close to Columbus, O
Went by a campsite with 2 boys and the parents. The boys were running into each other shouting DAD! DAD! look at that car. Even the Dad said something and giving me 2 thumbs up, What a rush.
I also have a 79 L82 Midnite blue paint job. I agree with the previous post's. There are times I wonder why I have this car then there are those moments that make it worth while, kind of like golf!
I'm a 48 year old with all white hair and I get many looks and comments, I mention this to my wife, now she is a blonde and good looking, her comment was: you think you get the looks you should see them when I'm driving the car with out you in it!lol
I don't know why but when I take the vette to a pizza parlor everybody looks at it.
Also I like all vettes, but there is nothing better then having the c3 parked next to a c5 or c6 and the people always look at the c3 first.
Last week I took my 73 454 out for a spin and went to get some DVDs to watch. I was pulling into the Blockbuster parking lot when not 1, not 2, but 3 motorcycle cops pulled up beside me. I immediately thought....UH OH...what did I do. But all they wanted to do was get a better look at the car and ask me what year it was, did I do my own work, do I take it to shows. PHEW!!! was I relieved. I talked to them about 10 minutes, and off they went.

I always laugh out loud when a ricer, who has undoubtedly spent $20k+ on their sheetbox, ogles my car in admiration. I'm like "Dude...you could have TWO of these for what you spent on that turd!".
I guess the "common man" has no clue what our cars are worth.

Now that made my day.

LOL - I once had a state trooper pull me over just to ask about my Vette. Anxiety to ego boost in 10 seconds flat!
