i'm doing a body off on my 69 BB. The front end needs total replacement and some body work needs to be done on the rear. I was going to try to learn fiberglass repair messing around with the old front end with a guy thats done it before. My question is whats the easyest way to remove the front from the firewall? I've heard everything from a chisel to a heat gun. Also how are the inner fenders attached to the front end, is there any glue joints between the two?
I know alot of you have already done this and i've heard some horror stories.
If I were you, I'd order the book from Ecklers on Corvette Fiberglass Repairs. It explains what you want to know and more.
Thank for the return but could you be more specific on the book title I just checked with Ecklers and they have 4 or 5 fiberglass repair books.
They have one just for front ends, but could'nt tell me if it contained the removal of the front end.
I removed mine with a chisel, hammer, and some carefull die grinding. It is best to do it with the doors off the car (almost impossible without). The assembly manual is your only choice since the Eckler's book ("Eckler's Complete Guide to Fiberglass Repair") is out of print. I did get mine off of ebay though. The front end is gluded to the cowl just in front of the doors. The inner fenders are glued to the front end on the inside. My advice: buy the assembly manual, take your time and be carefull. Every mistake requires more bodywork.

Where are you located? I would be happy to knock the old front end off for you in exchange for letting me keep the old trashed front.
I am in Central Florida. I have a little bit of practice doing this, so don't worry...it would be in good hands!

I live about an hour northwest of philadelphia. I don't know that im that willing to give the front end away. Not that its going to do me anygood except to practice fiberglass repair. If we were closer maybe work something out.

I am looking for an old non re-usable for street purposes C3 nose to build a cool theme bed for my toddler. My plan is to have it coming out of the wall in his bedroom with the matress in the engine bay. I have some C5 wheels that will look sweet under the front. The markers would double for nightlights. I have to engineer some safe hinges and set the hood up so it can close and hide the bed/sheets. Obviously it will get abused by the child so it does not need to be perfect and I will paint it black imron for strength of paint.

Heck, I did the same thing, chiseled off my repaired '67 front end in one piece and sold it a week later for $1000 from an ad I put in here at the CF "Parts for sale". Not a bad deal.

I'm North of Tampa and will be replacing the front of my 1968 vette within 6 months. You help me remove it and it's all yours. I think you would be able to use it for a bed.
