Default Air Conditioning on a '75

I have got the A/C on my '75 almost put back together but I have one electrical wire that needs to go somewhere. The electrical plug/connection right beside the coolant bottle (don't know what you call it) has two wires coming from it. The green wire goes to the A/C compressor. Where does the tan wire go?

I have a group of wires near the heater box/firewall where one of the wires has been cut. It is tan. Do these two tan wires connect with each other?

I was looking at my friend's '78 this week and one of his A/C wires connects to something at the carb just above the intake. Must be a difference in design. I don't have a schematic at this time and don't want to connect this tan wire somewhere it dosen't go.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but I would supect that your friend has an a/c idler solenoid. When the a/c is on, it will step up the idle. I'm sure someone will be alone to help you, they always do.

I'll take a look at mine ('74) and let you know. May not be today, however...gotta work.

There should be a brown wire on the driver's side of the engine that goes to a solenoid at the front/left corner of the carb. That is your A/C idle compensator(?), which kicks up the rpm's a little when the A/C is switched on.

I have a schematic, too. Will look when I can get to my warehouse.

That is the refrigerant low pressure switch. Power to compressor clutch and solenoid go through it first.

Hmmm...that's not what I got. Could be differences between '74 ~ '77.

Here's what I found by looking at my car and referring to the wiring diagram:

Green wire from compressor to "discharge pressure switch". This switch is a small cylinder, mounted on the passenger fenderwell, just outboard of the compressor. Coming out of the switch, immediately next to the aforementioned green wire is a tan wire. This tan wire heads toward the firewall where it joins the wiring loom bundle....bundle passes thru the firewall (pass. side) and the tan wire continues on to the "compressor switch" (somewhere under the dash/console?). There are three A/C related switches under the dash..."compressor switch", "master switch" and "blower switch". All three are co-joined by various wires, however the tan wire, as described, goes to the "compressor switch".

Sorry if this invokes confusion, but hey...flip a coin?

I think the 73 and 74 are the same, I'm not sure about the 75, but it probroly is. I have posted the vacuum and wiring diagram on my web site if you want to take a look at it.

http://www.yosn.com/yappa-ng/index.p...FPhoto_Gallery

To enlarge the photo, click on the "original" icon at the top where it said Change view size. the 1699 X 1600 is not set to work.

May be it will help. The switches ..."compressor switch", "master switch" and "blower switch", are all located under the a/c control panel where the roller controls are.

That's what I was thinking. Tan wire heads toward the firewall into a group of wires. Thanks.
