Default Please help me decode my 1968 (?) Rear diff!!!

Hello,
I am working on the car and I have access to the numbers under the car, so I decided to write them down and try to decode them. On the rearend, there is a number stamped right before the back cover, which from my research is where it is on a 1968. The number is:

2AO7168W

The only way I can decode this is like this:
AO - 3.70:1 Posi
7 - July
16 - 16th day
8 - 1968
W - Warren, MI

That really does not match up with my research, but it does match up with the dates on my car.
(my engine date code is July 8th, 1968
my transmission date code is June 26th, 1968
Lastly, I spun the wheel once and watched the driveshaft and the drive shaft seemed to rotate 3.7 times. Also, when I spun the tires on the street, it left two marks, so I think it is posi.)

Do you think that is the correct decoding?
If so, what is with the mystery 2 at the beginning?
If not, how would you decode that number?
If not, do you think it is not a corvette reaerend?
All suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Joe

I'm not sure this helps but this is the number on my 68 diff. This is a 4:11 from a November 67 built car. I think the guy who stamped the numbers must have been blind. I have another that is worse than this.

I believe the "2" means it was manufactured during the 2nd shift at the plant.
