I bought a set of Hooker headers/sidepipes with the sterling silver finish from Jet/Hot about two years ago. Because of other ongoing changes to my car I only recently installed them (about 5 months ago). One header already has a lot of surface rust especially between the primary tubes at the collector. It pretty much looks like hell! The other header is only showing some slight signs of rust. I'm shipping the whole works back tomorrow to the Pascagoula plant for a re-coating. Any of you guys have this problem with yours? Do you think they will rust again after re-coating? I'm not too happy with this situation.
i see it all the time! i did my ram horns and there duller than they were ,,all thell do is recoat for 1/2 price,,,,its just gonna do it again so i dont bother,,,as far as rust i have not had the problem AS OF YEAT!!!!---------------
no, that isn't the norm. thats the 1st time i've heard of jethot headers rusting especially ones that haven't been used. it's been 7 to 8 yrs since i sent my 4yr old chrome hookers that were rusting to jethot to be dechromed and jethot coated and they still look great. was really impressed upon taking em apart last summer to install spiral mufflers and found the inners, after wiping exhaust residue off, just like when i got em back from jet hot, i was very impressed. mite want to check 1st if the pascagoula plant is reopened. also jethot gaurantees their work so u shouldn't have any problems getting them redone.
yes.. I was very disappointed to see rust on my hooker supercomp undercar headers, sterling silver jet hot coated. I called JH and they offered to recoat if I sent them in, but I am not real eager to remove them. Haven't tried cleaning them up to see if the rust would come off. They said moisture from the concrete garage floor can cause them to rust, but I thought the coating was like stainless steel.... ie... didn't think it would rust.

That's good to hear! I have heard other good comments about them on this forum. I don't know what happened to mine, maybe bad chemicals or prep. I called them and the Pascagoula plant started accepting parts last week. They have a free recoating within three years and lifetime rust through guarantee. I think I'm going to have a couple of O2 bungs installed also. They charge $25.00 per bung.

i've got carpet under my vette in the garage just for that reason, it's amazing how much moisture gets on the underlings of yer vette from concrete. carpet also makes it very comfortable to work on yer vette. just find somebody thats getting new carpeting and get their old stuff for the garage or make like sanford on garbage day
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have Hooker Super Comps as well. They have been on the car a while, but have seen very little use. What are everyone's thoughts on coating these headers. They seem to be in good shape.
