It's not there today, but yesterday saw on Ebay a 1969 Vert (Blue/Blue) located in Montgomery, Tx for $6200 (no reserve); says perfect, and can fly in & drive anywhere. Also said contact seller before bidding, and the seller had canceled the only 3 bids.
I emailed the seller and they (and the car) are in the UK. Says they will ship the car, then ship the keys seperately. Sounds like a major scam to me.
Yup...scam big time. I e-mailed a scammer/seller off of VetteHound about a '69 427/435 coupe for $6,800. The ad said the car was here in SoCal, but the ridiculous response I got said the car was in Bratislava, Slovakia and they would ship it to me free of charge if I bought it.

I feel that most everyone on the internet is trustworthy. Just yesterday, I met this nice Nigerian gentleman who is going to split his fortune with me!
I see offers of high-end muscle cars across the board in similar situations on ebay. The ads always say the cars are located in LA or Chicago or something, but they always have issues showing you the car in person. The car is in the UK, or some state too far away to go look at easily, but will be shipped as soon as they get there $ I responded to one of these ads saying I could drive to LA the next day or two to inspect it (it was a '69 Mach 1). I got a response from ebay saying they were investigating the seller and to beware. Many times they show good ratings and positive feedback. Bottom line, if you can't speak with the individual and verify that the car exists (and is in the condition it is portrayed to be in) don't send any money. I guess it all goes back to the old saying "you get what you pay for"
Just my opinion, but it is worth your time to waste theirs. Reply and offer to buy the car. Offer cash. IF they will send you a picture of their wife, standing naked, WITH a half gallon of milk, and a dead fish, and a block of cheese.

I love these. They usually begin with something along the lines of "I have just inherited $100 k from my deceased uncle in LA. I will split it with you to avoid taxes. Please wire me $50 k when you receive the check."
Sad thing is, I imagine that there are people that fall for this or else they wouldn't keep trying the scam.

Can I get in on that? I can meet him at the airport for you.
some of my buddies went along with that nigerian fortune thing just for fun... they made up fake names and addresses and stuff and each had their own role; one was "with the bank" and had a fake acct number, one was with something else, one was the buyer, etc... they actually had a few emails going back and forth with the person but I think the other guy caught on cause he stopped responding lol

A guy tried to scam me on E Bay. I used E Bay's dispute resolution tools. What I found is that E Bay or Pay Pal did very little to help. This was a clear case of misrepresenting a vehicle where I supplied all the documentation to E Bay. I didn't even get a response and the guy is still on E Bay trying to screw people.
I just got taken on a small Ebay purchase for some wheel bearings from a ebay seller 436Corvette Quick1 Racing out of Denison TX. I paid by bank check, he cashed it and never sent them. Ebay has kicked him off now just glad is was just a few dollars. I buy and sell on Ebay all the time and first time in probably 1,500 transactions that I was taken.
