Tilt/Tel Column Question
My Tilt/Teloscoping steering column has a little play near the tilt area. It's annoying me because of the sloppiness that I get from it, instead of being tight and sturdy.
I know on regular tilt GM columns you can remove the wheel and the plastic lock housing and tighten down the torx bolts to remove the play. I've done one before in the past.
Are the tilt/Tel columns pretty much set up the same way past the ignition housing?
Does anyone have a link to a "how to" tech article on this subject?
Thanks
* Update, I got the column broke down to the step before you get to the "loose" bolts and it appears to be tight. I don't think it's the common loosening tilt problem.
What it looks like is excessive play where the teloscoping shaft runs through the middle and rides on the upper/lower bearings.
The bearings look fine, is this a common problem in these columns for something in that area to wear out? I can seat the bearings in as far as they go and the shaft still wobbles.

Is it normal for the shaft on the telescoping column that goes in/out and supports the steering wheel to have any play in it or is it supposed to be 100% solid just like a standard tilt wheel? Mine flexes a little in any postion of being all the way in or out.
