Need some help fiquring out what engine I have. Numbers on drivers side rear of block are.
24GM
3970010
The reason I ask is I was changing fuel pump and picked up 1970 fuel pump at auto parts and it mounts with two bolts. Fuel pump I'm replacing because it leaks has four bolts.
Engine is not original and has been decked I think, because no number on passenger side on front of block are gone.
How can I determine what engine I have.
Anyone know at least when they changed to a four bolt fuel pump.

Are you sure there were "4" bolts actually holding the pump on? There should be 2 bolts holding the fuel pump plate, but only 2 other bolts actually holding the pump to the block...
You are right I just glanced down there and it was just more of a somewhat bad day. Had just stripped a bolt on something else. Took the new fuel pump out of box and glanced down at old pump and engine
and thought I saw four bolts connecting.
Say a few bad words and thought well this is the way my day is going.
As they say """"NEVER MIND"""
Thanks for the quick answer, say me a embarassing trip to parts store.
That casting was used from 69-80 with 2 or 4 bolt mains.
Not sure about the 24GM??? There should be a casting number either on the pass side or drivers side of the block behind the valve covers just in front of the bell housing.
that is correct but was not limited to the 69. There were many more applications for the #3970010 including 2 bolt and 4 bolt main cap configurations...
