You did not get it.....C5 11/16ths means the C6 is not a complete redesign....has nothing to do with speed...nice to see the Ford still sucks though...

A re designed chassis and updated yet familiar body with updated interior isnt a complete redesign?
I like the C6. A lot! Come on guys, it's 21st century styling. Can't compare it to our classics from the 60's and 70's. This particular white, used C6 keeps calling my name as I drive by the same car lot every morning to work. I did stop one day. They want more than some new ones I've seen advertised. Must have something extra I can't readily see.
Personally, I'd love to have one to park beside my C3.

It breaks down to is it your hobby? Cause with all the creature comforts & wonderful computer controlled devices ya had better have a nice sized wallet or a best friend who owns a dealership with all the Diag. gear to troubleshoot the problems when they show up & oh yes they will show up. Ever have a ground problem with your C3? Chase it...wow it's fun. my .02
You can read the problems yourself with no tooling required. C5's and C6's will show the codes that throw. All you have to do is look it up and go from there. That saves a bunch of guess work like we're used to
*I've just noticed I've been spending too much time with my C5 brothers*
Personally, I love the styling of the early cars... The 1968-1972 models in particular. In their day (and in some cases even today), they were among the most powerful cars available and will always be recognized as historicly significant vehicles.
Having said that, whether you like the styling of the new car or not, the 2005-2006 Corvettes are incredible vehicles with state of the art engineering. The new Z06 is the quickest, fastest, best, braking, best handling Corvette in stock form ever offered to the public.
I've had the opportunity to drive some of the hottest Corvettes ever built by GM (including a few L-88s) and nothing compares to the 2006 Z06. Anyone who knows me is aware that I am a die hard fan of Corvettes and musclecars of the 1960s and early 1970s... But I had no problem selling a beautifully restored 1970 LT-1 to pay for a new Z06... And no regrets now that I've had a chance to drive it.

wholeheartedly... i dont really like C4's or C5's that much but I really like the C6, i think they took some of the good, subtle qualities from our generation of vettes
many replies! i think those who dont like should look again. i can see some older styling in there. the c-6 scores 9's and 10's everywhere. the c3 has got everyone beat in styling only. it would kill me to sell my c3. ive wanted it since i rode in one at 5 yr. old. i dont care that its a vette, i just like the way it looks! the c-6 is the only car that could pull me away. i would HAVE to sell to get it. wish i could have both. hmmmmm.... the truck will be paid off in 18 months.........
You know what your getting into asking the C3 forum what they think of c6's versus what the C6 forum thinks of C3's. It's all speculative. Most posting have never driven a C5 or C6. And yes I have driven both.
Cant believe those who say the C5 out performs the C6. Obviously they havnt driven the C6.
Anyway..get them BOTH!
Maybe you can answer for sure, but I was under the impression that a 2004 Z06 would out perform a more standard C6. Not by a great margin, but slightly. Is that true?
I had 2 shorts laps in the C6 at the GM auto show in motion and it is absolutly amazing! It is very easy to drive fast.
I have never really driven a C5 except for a short slow test drive a long time ago. I remember it being very nice.
When I was at the driving school at Willow springs there was a guy who had rented a C6 for the day so he could compare it to his C5. He told me there was a world of difference. I think his C5 was supercharged, but he was speaking of handling, not raw power.
