HELP . . . power steering valve install problem.

I just installed new valve and removed the rod from the frame bracket and balanced (centered) it according to instructions. Within about 1/4 turn it would move either in or out. I put it in the center of those positions where I could move the ram back and forth very easily. I shut the car off and reconnected the ram back to the bracket on the body.

Then I restart car, but as soon as I turn the wheel one way or the other it jerks back and forth VERY violently.

To the best of my knowledge (and I just printed out a photo and diagram) I have hoses right.

Any ideas???
