Default Curious George Strikes Again!

I have a 71 Coupe that was purchased a couple months ago and while fixing a few things this weekend noticed two relays underneath the front right hand portion of the passenger compartment attached to the ductwork. It appears that they are supposed to be connected together, but the outermost one was disconnected with the wires hanging. The relay has a three prong connection and the female connector has four wires coming into it, 2 red, 1 orange and 1 light blue. I should have realized there was probably a reason why Goober (the prior owner) had it disconnected, however I connected it anyway. When I turned the power on I heard a relay type noise coming from that area that I've not noticed before. I then cut the power and disconnected it. The only thing I noticed when checking all systems is that the high speed setting on the heater/a/c blower does not work, but the lower three speeds work fine. Checked all the fuses and they are fine. Does this make any sense? I sure would appreciate any thoughts.

Yes, that sounds like the blower high-speed relay. As for what's wrong with it, I can't tell from the info you posted. I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual as it has the wiring schematic in it and you can trace the wiring to the relay and find out what's wrong.

Basically, the orange wire is always hot (from the horn relay). The relay activates at the high-setting only and feeds power from the orange wire to the blower motor.
