Anyone running Monroe Sensa-Trac's? I know they are not Bilsteins but, how are they? (Other than alot less $$.) I'm just looking for a good ride with a little performance on my 77.
I think a set of KYBs is less $ than the Monroes - check Summit, I believe they're only $30 each... not sure about the Monroes but the KYBs are fine (yes, not Bilsteins but less than half the price)
I've never had good luck with Monroes on any of my vehicles. I put 'em on my '84 F150 and ended up having one of them fail after a year and a half.
Many friends of mine ran them on their Saturns before changing over to the KYBs (best shocks available for the Saturn, for the price), and had problems with stiffness.
If you want a good price for Bilsteins...Shox.com carries them for $289 for all 4 shocks.
I usually pick them up direct from them, since they're here in San Diego, which saves me shipping.
I, on the other hand, put them on my '71 and it rides and handles absolutely great. Just remember that shocks won't cure all your ills if you have other weak parts in your suspension. The shocks were the last thing I replaced, and while they were a big improvement over what was on the car, I had previously replaced the rear spring and cushions, the diff bushing, and the strut rod bushings. Got the Monroes at a good price ,too. Around $100 on sale at Advance Auto.
I have a set of 4 Monroe SensaTracs with less than 500 miles on them from my '75. Drop me an e-mail if interested. I'll make you a deal you can't refuse! -> yellovette@gmail.com
