Default Replacing 82 Sending Unit

My 82 Vette's fuel guage isn't registering but electrically checks out fine. Thje low fuel light is always on, even with a full tank. I have been told it might be the sending unit, which after 23 years is a good bet. What else might it be and if it is the sending unit, how do you remove/replace it without damaging the new one?

Removing is actually pretty easy. Remove the gas tank lid screws to get the entire cover off the car. Tape off the body so you don't get scratches. Unplug the wiring harness. Unplug the fuel lines. Remove the bolts holding the sending unit/fuel pump. VERY GENTLY pull the unit out of the tank.

the 82 fuel sending unit is high priced .take it out and see if you can clean up connections.

Replace your pump with an '85 model while you are at it.

Check the Crossfire Forum for R & R procedure.
