I was up in Shreveport in Northern Louisiana at the time everyone was heading out of town for this hurricane. I eventually worked my way down there, but by that time the police would not let anyone into the parish. My family has 7 cars and only 4 people who can drive so we ended up leaving 3 behind. I think at this point I am going to buy the car back and slowly work it back to life.
Hey brother keep your head you are making a great decision......I feel for you all of my family lost everything also.........
That sight hurst my eyes. Once the salt water gets inside the frame and in the birdcage it will rust out. My advise, take the insurance money and look for anothe vette...
I feel your pain. Mine went under too. I'll have to post some pics when I have more time. Down in the parish there is a 71-72 convt. at murphy oil that went under too. I had 31" where i stored my vette and 8' at the house. Man what a mess.
Oh man, I just want to cry! I hope you get a good settlement from the insurance company. Which one do you have? If you can buy it back cheap, it might be worth working on it.
I lived down in Chalmette in Buccaneer villa north. I just heard back from Insurance today. I have state farm and they are giving me 15,000 with no buy back or 12,500 if I buy back the car.

We are in the insurance business. Unless you have one of those stated value policies. Squeeze them for more. Never take the first offer. Ask for $20,000 and tell them you want the car. Be prepaired to support your arguement in repect to value.
If you choose to keep it establish how they will brand it....irrepairable? Salvage? Clean tilte?

That's the best idea IF you are going to keep it. The disclosure thing is a real big concern if you are planning on selling it in a few years though. Tough decision, but sounds like you will fix it and keep it,. Good for you!
