Default Mirrors

Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent set of mirrors for a C-3? I have the sport mirrors on my 79 and they are almost useless in a heavy traffic situation. I had the "large head" standard mirrors on my 77 and they were just slightly better then the sport mirrors. There must be a vendor somewhere that has a nice looking set of mirriors that actually allow you to see what is behind you.

I guess the only solution to this problem is to sell my 79 and buy a C-4!

See if you can get some of those trailering mirror attachements. You know, the ones that attach to the existing mirror but stick out about a foot with another mirror.

j/k

A couple people are using exterior mirrors from Oldsmobile Aurora's. They look decent, but the just don't look like they belong in my opinion.

I agree, the side mirrors are not much good. Cosidering the limitations of the body though, they're about as good as you can have without going to something really funky. I ended up putting on a pair of 1 1/2" diameter wide angle stick-on mirrors down in the corner where the rear fender shows. They help somewhat. Mainly I just developed the habit of looking over my shoulder a lot.

my idea

since my "concept" for the vette was clean and smooth, i took off the mirrors...... i'm going to get some chrome motorcycle mirrors and mount them about 3/4 up on the windshield pillar......this way it'll still look smooth and i can still see over the fenders......

sort of like these mirrors on the link

One member installed mirrors from a Oldsmobile Aurora - can't find the thread, the search function disappointed me again...

I searched for the same thread. Couldn't find it either, but I remember that he said that they were bigger mirrors and I thought that they looked really good. Maybe he will jump in with a pic. I thought I had it saved but I don't.

I like the C5 mirrors. We're buying a set of them for our '76

We've kinda come to the same problem with our Jaguar E-Type mirrors, since they're fixed mirrors just behind the hood on the car. These mirrors are about 2 1/2" to 3" in diameter and as useless as breasts on a bullfrog.

We purchased a clip on set of mirrors that attach to the door pillar, using an allen bolt to hold it in place. (I THINK they were about $40 for the set) The mirrors are nice; they allow us to see behind us relatively well and are easily removeable for when we get to car shows.

I'll post pics when I get home.

EDIT:

Here's a link to the mirrors we got for our Jaguar; I see no reason why these shouldn't work on any other car, though.

Mirrors

We got 2 of these to mount on either side of the door frame, and they work really well at improving visibility (the stock mirrors are worse than the "Sport" mirrors on a C3).

[IMG][/IMG] I kinda like the Jaguar side mirror, but I'd have to see them installed. Do you have any pics of them on the car? Below is a pic of a member's Olds Aurora side mirror.

that's the one I was looking for, these look good and seem to be functional.... I'd think they're also a lot cheaper than C5 mirrors.

I'll put 'em on the car tomorrow and take pics; I unfortunately won't have much of a chance to do that today (curse that little thing people like to call work!).

Default Aurora mirrors

Those Olds Aurora mirrors look like they might just do the trick.

Thanks Guys.
